FORMER STATE TREASURER ENDORSES RICHARDSON FOR SENATE
BOISE – Former Idaho State Treasurer Lydia Justice Edwards announced today that she is endorsing Betty Richardson for the state Senate from District 15.
“Betty Richardson is a woman of sterling character. I have known Betty for many years. She is very well-qualified to be a state Senator,” Edwards said. “As U.S. Attorney and Chairwoman of the Industrial Commission, Betty displayed honesty and integrity. I know she will serve honorably, and I am proud to endorse her.”
Edwards served for 12 years as Idaho’s State Treasurer, from 1986 through 1998. Before that, she served two terms in the House of Representatives.
Edwards joins fellow Republicans Vern Bisterfelt, Dave Navarro and Roger Simmons in endorsing Richardson. Bisterfelt is a former Boise City Council member and Ada County Commissioner. Navarro is a former Ada County Clerk. Simmons is a former Ada County Commissioner.
“I am honored to have the support of these distinguished Idahoans,” said Richardson. “It means a lot to have endorsements from Republicans as well as Democrats and underscores my belief that we need to work together to move Idaho forward.”
